About This Project

Village of Big Rock and Unincorporated Kane County

Kane County Division of Transportation

The Village of Big Rock was worried regional flooding would be made worse by KDOT’s proposed Dauberman Road extension project.  The Location Drainage Study determined the drainage issues were more directly related to old/failing drain tile, poor overland flow, depressional storage areas and ditches filled with sediment.  BLA worked with the Kane County Division of Water Resources, the Village of Big Rock, IDOT, Kane County Drainage District #3 and Big Rock Township to model the two-square-mile watershed and propose a series of smaller projects to alleviate the flow tributary to the 16-inch and 20-inch drain tiles which serve as the only direct discharge outlets to Welch Creek.
