Village of Hanover Park
BLA provided design services for a three-acre Village site to accommodate Hanover Park’s new police station. Work included grading, utility design, stormwater management, site geometrics and erosion/sediment control. The project met local and state permitting requirements for water, sanitary and stormwater management. Best management practices were incorporated for water quality and the site will provide stormwater detention at grade to meet the MWRD ordinance.
In order to meet the detention requirements of MWRD and based on the limited space on the site, BLA designed four interconnected detention basins that float off each other and all route to the outfall restrictor manhole. Challenges of the site design included working along state right-of-way with grading and utility tie-ins as well as the existing site due west of the project (also owned by the Village). Site security elements and vehicle turning movements were incorporated into the site geometry, specifically for sliding gates, call boxes and ambulance movements.
